Gurdaspur, May 29: Underscoring the huge role of Babasaheb Dr B R Ambedkar in shaping the democratic framework of the world’s largest democracy, senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Devender Singh Rana on Wednesday emphasised the importance of safeguarding the Constitution as the bedrock of India’s democratic and inclusive society.
“Being proud citizens of vibrant and forward-looking India under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, our commitment stands unwavering to uphold and protect the Constitution bequeathed by Babasaheb for posterity,” he said while addressing a series of meetings of Booth Incharges in different blocks of Dinanagar assembly constituency in support of the BJP candidate Dinesh Singh Babbu from Gurdaspur Lok Sabha Constituency in Punjab.
Rana said the nation will always remain indebted to the architect of the Constitution for his monumental contribution. He cautioned against any attempt by the opposition INDI Alliance to dilute its spirit by trampling on the rights of Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe, and Other Backward Classes.
“The BJP has always been and will continue to be a staunch defender of the Constitution, which, inter-alia, takes care of the interests of the marginalized segments of the society,” he said, “We the foot soldiers of the BJP under the leadership of Modiji are committed to preserving the values of justice, equality, and liberty that Dr Ambedkar enshrined in our Constitution.”
Devender enumerated the initiatives undertaken by the government to promote social justice and empowerment, reflecting the core values championed by Dr Ambedkar.
Accusing the Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) of playing divisive politics, the BJP leader said, “The fake narratives of the two parties reflect their sheer desperation over losing ground across the country. The anarchist tendencies of the AAP and the divisive politics of the Congress have caused much harm to the national psyche in general and Punjab in particular.”
“The nation is still grappling with the historic blunders of the Congress both in Punjab and Jammu and Kashmir has been the worst victim and sufferer of its wrong policies,” Rana said, adding, “The so-called grand old party is reaping the fruits of its negative politics and facing political turmoil due to historic blunders.”
“The time has come to make India Congress Mukt, fulfilling the dream of Mahatma Gandhi, who had wished closure of this enterprise immediately after the independence,” he added.
Seeking vote and support for Dinesh Babbu, Rana said this will further strengthen the hands of the Prime Minister, who has initiated “path-breaking” steps to transform the nation and make it the world leader.
