Ganderbal, Apr 06: The Jammu and Kashmir Police have dismantled two separate burglary gangs operating in Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district on Saturday.
Addressing the media during a press conference, SSP Ganderbal Sandeep Gupta revealed the details of the operations. The first incident came to light when Tajamul Hussain, the owner of Hung Park Restaurant, lodged a complaint with Police Station Gund on March 22nd. Hussain reported a brazen burglary where unknown individuals broke into his restaurant during the night of March 21-22, making off with a haul of valuable items including a generator, two inverter units, a transformer, coffee machine, griller/toaster, gas stove, gas cylinders, utensils, electric cables, and damaging CCTV cameras. Promptly responding to the complaint, the Gund Police registered an FIR under relevant sections of the law and launched an extensive investigation.
Under the direction of SSP Sandeep Gupta, a specialized police team Under the Supervision of SDPO Kangan Muzaffar Jan was formed to tackle the case the Police Party From P/S Gund led by SHO Lateef Ali. After diligent efforts and technical support, the team identified and apprehended the primary suspect, Irshad Ahmad Kalwatho, along with his accomplices, Feroze Ahmad Kalwatho and Mohd Saleem Kalu, residents of Naninara, Sumbal.
During interrogation, Irshad Ahmad confessed to the crime and disclosed crucial information leading to the recovery of stolen property worth lacs from various locations in Naninara, Sumbal. Further investigations unearthed additional stolen goods and revealed previously unreported theft cases attributed to the gang. Additionally, a Tata Mobile vehicle used in the commission of the crimes was seized.
Meanwhile, another burglary case emerged on April 2nd when Kaiser Ahmad Waza filed a complaint with the Ganderbal Police stating that his sister-in-law, who was a guest at his house, had stolen gold ornaments from his room’s locker. Acting swiftly, a special police team, under the supervision of Inspector Manzoor Ahmad, apprehended the accused in Harisingh Highstreet, Srinagar. The accused confessed to the crime and admitted to selling the stolen gold ornaments for cash. Subsequently, cash amounting to Rs 1,85,500 and a scooty were recovered from her possession.
The prompt actions of the Ganderbal Police have been applauded by the general public, who express hope for a safer community. District Police Ganderbal urges citizens to collaborate with law enforcement authorities to ensure a crime-free society. The police continue to investigate both cases, with the anticipation of further arrests and the recovery of additional stolen property.
