Hiranagar, Sep18: Department of Music Govt. GLDM Degree College Hiranagar organised 15thonline lecture under the series named “Manthan.”
Manthan is an online lecture series from Jammu and Kashmir to Kanyakumari organised under the aegis of Ek Bharat Shreshta Bharat and AzadiKaAmritMahotsav @75. The lecture was on the topic Folk Music of Rajasthan. The Chief Guest of the programme was Prof. (Dr.) Pragya Khanna Principal of the College. She highly appreciated the idea of the series of lectures pertaining to music every week. 
The resource person for the lecture Dr. Dushyant Tripathi is a well-known scholar, artist and Head Department of Music, Sanatan Dharma, Government Degree College, Beawar,Rajasthan. He is also a member of SwarParikshan Samiti of Aakashwani and has published many books and articles in reputed journals.
He in his lecture described in detail the Folk Music of Rajasthan. He, with a power point presentation, discussed in detail the varieties and variations of the folk music of Rajasthan. He elaborated the culture, varieties of folk music, folk instruments and folk dances of Rajasthan. He and his students also sung a few folk songs in their melodious voices and enthralled the participants of the webinar.
The welcome address was presented byDr. Bharat BhushanHead, Department of Music. Dr. Ravinder Singh, Department of Sociology presented the biodata of the resource person.Dr Bharat Bhushanalso informed that a book will be released after the compilation of all the proceedings and articles from all the lectures. The work and initiative would be a contribution to the knowledge and literature in the field of music which would further strengthen the institution at large. The project is encouraged and inspired by the worthy Principal of the college Prof. (Dr.) Pragya Khanna.
The webinar was attended by the students, teachers and music lovers from across the nation. Many participants discussed and shared their views about the series.
