Srinagar, Oct 05: A 25-year-old civilian was killed after after on duty policeman’s rifle allegedly went off accidently at Haal area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Wednesday.
The slain was identified as 25-year-old Mohd Asif Padroo, son of Mohd Ayub resident of Poterwaal Shopian. Police have arrested the cop and has registered FIR in the case.
Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Kashmir Vijay Kumar said that a cop whose service rifle had gone off accidentally killing a civilian in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district has been arrested and a formal case has been registered against him.
In a tweet, ADGP Kumar said, today while on duty at Haal Pulwama, the rifle of a Policeman accidentally went off resulting in injuries to a person. The injured person was immediately evacuated to the hospital by Police.
“Later on, the injured person succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. Case registered and Policeman has been arrested. Further investigation is going on,” he said.
A police officer at Pulwama said the accused policeman has been disarmed and arrested. We have registered FIR vide number 79/2022 under section 304 has been registered against him and investigations are underway in the case,” he said.
