Jammu, Nov 26: Zaid Ahmad and Mudasir Abdullah’s heroics helped Jammu and Kashmir to gain a vital first innings lead of 103 runs, while Manav Sindhu’s unconquered century in UP’s second essay overwhelmed Hitim Reyaz’s first innings brilliance in the ongoing Cooch Behar Trophy match between Jammu and Kashmir and Uttar Pradesh at JKCA Hostel Ground, here.
Trailing by 103 runs in the first innings, Uttar Pradesh were 187/2 in the second innings at stumps on day-3 today.
Manav Sindhu was unbeaten on 103 runs off 168 balls, studded with 14 boundaries, while Kavya Teotia was unbeaten on 24 runs. Now, UP have gained a lead of 84 runs and have still 8 wickets in hand.
For J&K, Bismaadh and Mohd Mousub Bhat claimed one wicket each.
Earlier, resuming from 308/9, the duo of Zaid Ahmad and Mudasir Abdullah made a record last wicket partnership of 119 runs for J&K and took the score to 427 runs before Zaid was dismissed at his individual score of 71 runs off 138 balls, studded with 6 boundaries and one six, while Mudasir contributed 58 runs off 66 balls including 9 boundaries. Both the batters hit a series of boundaries to take the bowlers on a leather-hunt.
Earlier yesterday, Hatim Reyaz had slammed a classic century, while Kamaksh Sharma had scored splendid fifty and Achintya Raj Khajuria had contributed superb 48 runs.
For Uttar Pradesh, Shubham Mishra took 3 wickets, while Hitesh Kumar and Yasir Khan bagged 2 wickets each. Aditya Kumarn Singh and Yashu Pradhan claimed one wicket each.
The match hangs in balance with J&K having upper hand and the team which holds its nerves better on the last day tomorrow can emerge victorious. However, the chances of the match ending in a draw are more.
