Director Agriculture inaugurates Spawn distribution among Mushroom Farmers at IMDC Srinagar

Srinagar, Mar07: The Director Agriculture Kashmir, Chowdhury Mohammad Iqbal on Tuesday inaugurated distribution of spawn among the mushroom farmers at Integrated Mushroom Development Centre (IMDC) Lalmandi, here.
Speaking to the mushroom farmers, the Director highlighted the importance of small-scale agri-based cottage industries (SSCIs) for the sustainability of the agriculture sector. He said the department is committed to promote SSCIs in kashmir.
He said the farmer who is operating an agri-based cottage industry like mushroom cultivation could easily supplement the income raised from selling crops.
Iqbal said that the agri based cottage industries like mushroom cultivation; apiculture etc has vast potential to generate employment opportunities for educated youth, rural people and unskilled people besides women farmers.
Director asked the educated youth of the valley to come forward and join hands with the department, so that they could become agri- entrepreneurs and contribute to the overall agriculture economy in touching new heights.
Beside other officers, Mushroom Specialist Madhan Gopal Singh was present on the occasion.
DLSA Ganderbal organizes Legal awareness program for Women
Ganderbal, Mar 07: As part of Pan India programme launched by National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) in collaboration with National Commission for Women (NCW) from 4th of March, 2023 to 11th of March, 2023 and under the directions of J&K Legal Services Authority, the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Ganderbal on Tuesday organized Legal Awareness programme for women.
The programme was organized on the topics ‘Family Law, Civil & Criminal Laws, Labour Laws, Women & Reproductive Health Rights’ at Block Training Centre of NRLM Wakoora, Ganderbal.
The programme was held under the chairmanship of Ritesh Kumar Dubey, Chairman DLSA Ganderbal and under the guidance of Nusrat Ali Hakak, Secretary DLSA Ganderbal.
The objective of the programme was to impart practical knowledge among women about the basic legal rights and remedies provided under various women related laws, to make women aware of the various machineries/organs of the Justice delivery system available for redressal of their problems/grievances, and to sensitize women and girls about their Rights as provided under the various laws including the Indian Penal Code, 1860; the Dowry Prohibition Act, 1961; the Prevention of Domestic Violence to Women Act, 2005 etc.
Adv. Shagufta Nabi informed participants about the role of Legal Services Authorities and National Commission for Women in the advancement of status of women.
She apprised the participants about the Indian Legal System, concept of basic rights and equality under law, Family and Property law, Civil & Criminal Laws as well as Domestic Violence Act, and Sexual Harassment at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act.
Adv. Shagufta made participants aware about Marriage Law, Separation, Divorce, Maintenance, Adoption, Family Laws, Right to Property and Succession, Guardianship, unmarried mother and the legitimacy of her children.
She also sensitized Women and Girls about their Rights as provided under the various laws including the Indian Penal Code, 1860; the Dowry Prohibition Act, 1961; Prevention of Domestic Violence to Women Act, 2005 etc. She also made them aware about Outraging Modesty of Women, Kidnapping & Abduction, Rape and Sexual Assault & POCSO Act.
Adv. Asima Khaliq, informed participants about Labour Laws, Prevention of Sexual Harassment at work place, Maternity Benefit Act, Factories Act, Equal Remuneration Act & Women & Reproductive health Rights, Women and Reproductive Health Rights, Medical Termination of Pregnancy Act, and PNDT Act.
She Said, the Equal Remuneration Act, 1976 was passed to provide for the payment of equal remuneration to men and women workers and for the prevention of discrimination, on the grounds of sex, against women in the matter of employment.
The program was attended by Parveen, CDPO Lar; Naureen, BPM NRLM Wakoora, Social Workers of Women’s cell, PLVs, Aganwadi Workers & Helpers, Members of Self Help Groups, and local women.
