Kreeri, June 19: The Third Edition of the Shaheed Shujaat Bukhari Memorial Football Championship kicked off with great enthusiasm at the Ussan Khoie playfield. The opening match witnessed an intense battle between Titanic Football Club Islamabad and HFC Yadipora, with Titanic emerging victorious with a scoreline of 1-0.
The prestigious event was inaugurated by former Indian Football Team captain, Ab Majeed Kakroo Senior. The atmosphere was filled with excitement as football enthusiasts from Kreeri and Ussan gathered to witness the thrilling encounter. DO Police Post Ussan, Showket Ahmad, was among the esteemed guests of honor, alongside other senior sports personalities from the region.
In the first half of the match, Titanic FC secured an early lead, scoring a goal that proved decisive in their victory. HFC Yadipora displayed relentless attacking tactics but were unable to find the back of the net. As the referee blew the final whistle, the score remained 1-0 in favor of FC Titanic, securing their spot in the second round of the tournament.
The tournament is jointly organized by the Chinar Sports Association Ussan and Al Murad Sports Club Kreeri, both known for their commitment to promoting sports in the Baramulla region. The event aims to honor the memory of Shaheed Shujaat Bukhari, a revered figure in the football community.
In recognition of their exceptional performances, awards were presented to the participants, and media persons covering the event were also acknowledged during the opening ceremony.
