Udhampur, Aug 28: Several delegations on Monday called on Juhi Manhas Pathania, Vice Chairperson District Development Council Udhampur at her office here. A variety of issues were projected including the provision of drinking water, electricity supply, road connectivity, and paucity of staff in schools of various far-flung areas of District Udhampur.
Responding to the demand of a deputation regarding the release of rentals and the land compensation for the lands acquired, Pathania took up the matter with the Union Ministry of Urban and Housing Affairs for notification of the competent authority mandated by the Jammu and Kashmir RAIP-1952 Act.
A deputation from Neeli Nallah led by the local Sarpanch projected various issues of the area including the immediate commissioning of the Degree College building. Another spirited deputation from the Majalta-Khoon area called for addressing the shortage of staff and lack of proper infrastructure in the Department of Health. The Deputation called for the provision of two additional ambulances in Block Majalta.
The Vice Chairperson took up the matter with the Director Health Services. She called upon the Department of Rural Development for the inclusion of all the eligible persons under AWAS Plus as the objective of the scheme is affordable housing for all. She said that all the eligible persons including those who are landless should be included in the survey for benefits under the scheme.
The Vice Chairperson called upon the district administration to start the process for Relief and rehabilitation of those affected by the recent heavy rains and flash floods. She instructed the Department of Jal Shakti to immediately restore the pipelines with the provision of water tankers to areas where restoration will take time. She also called the Department of PWD for immediate repair/restoration of damaged roads.
She also took up the matter of the all-of-sudden doubling of electricity bills in Tehsil Majalta and called for immediate corrective measures. She assured delegations of quality redressal of all their demands.
