North Zone Triumphs As J&K Hosts Grand National Softball Championship!

Srinagar, April 16: The 10th All India Inter-Zonal Softball Championship 2024–25, organised by the J&K Sports Council in collaboration with the Jammu and Kashmir Softball Association, concluded today at Bakshi Stadium, Srinagar, with North Zone lifting both the Senior Men’s and Senior Women’s titles.
The championship witnessed a splendid performance by the Jammu and Kashmir teams, who brought glory to the Union Territory by securing gold medals in both categories, showcasing their growing dominance in the sport.
Dr Iqbal Hussain Wani, Deputy Director of Industries and Commerce, graced the closing ceremony as Chief Guest. He was joined by distinguished guests including Dr Pravin Anaokar, Secretary General of the Softball Association of India; Nusrat Gazala, Divisional Sports Officer Kashmir, Mushtaq Bashir, Managing Director, CP Advertising Company Pvt Ltd and Mushtaq Ahmad Zargar, Senior Manager, J&K Sports Council.

Top athletes from across the nation competed in this prestigious tournament held in the picturesque setting of Srinagar. Commending the professionalism and excellence with which the event was conducted, Dr Wani praised the J&K Softball Association for their commendable efforts. He emphasised that with continued support from the J&K Sports Council, such events will regularly be organised to further elevate the standard of softball in the Union Territory. He also lauded the association’s proactive initiatives in promoting and developing the sport in the region.
Medals and trophies were later distributed by the Chief Guest among the winners, runners-up, and third-place holders, encouraging all participants to continue striving for excellence in the sport. Waseem Raja Khan, General Secretary of the J&K Softball Association, delivered the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all dignitaries, participants, and supporters for their contributions to the success of the event.
