Jammu, Feb 13: Chairman Peoples Democratic Front (PDF) and former minister, Hakeem Muhammad Yaseen, on Monday urged Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to expedite the recruitment process in education and health sectors on a time-bound basis.
In a statement, Hakeem expressed concern regarding the “inadequate” healthcare facilities and staffing shortages in hospitals and educational institutions across Jammu & Kashmir. “The shortage of staff in hospitals constitutes a humanitarian emergency, hindering the effective delivery of healthcare services to those in need,” he said.
He highlighted the migration of trained medical professionals overseas despite the presence of numerous vacancies in the region, saying this is due to the “faulty planning” by the government.
He said the state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment has been gathering dust due to the absence of specialists and technical staff in many hospitals and health centres. He called for urgent recruitment to fill these vacancies. “There is a need for temporary or ad-hoc hiring of teachers, doctors and nursing staff to address immediate staffing gaps,” he said.
The PDF Chairman appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah to personally review the education and healthcare systems in Jammu & Kashmir. He urged them to assess the ground reality to understand the true status of development and progress in the Union Territory.
