GGM Science College Hosts Awareness Programme on Safety, First Aid

Jammu, Dec: The NSS and NCC units of GGM Science College, in partnership with the Civil Defense Organization, Jammu, Friday organized a One-Day Awareness Programme on disaster preparedness, safety measures, and first aid.
“The event, conducted under the leadership of Principal Prof. (Dr.) Romesh Kumar Gupta, emphasized the importance of equipping students with essential life-saving skills to handle emergencies effectively. Prof. Gupta highlighted that such initiatives not only enhance students’ practical knowledge but also foster a sense of responsibility toward community service,” the statement said.
Held in the college’s Conference Hall, the programme focused on crucial safety and emergency response techniques such as CPR, wound management, disaster evacuation, and firefighting measures. Civil Defense Jammu officials, including Mr. Paramjeet Kumar (Chief Warden), Vijay Magotra (Deputy Chief Warden), Mr. Sandeep Bhat (Sector Warden), along with instructors Mr. Parshotam Kumar and Mr. Rajinder Kumar, conducted engaging and informative sessions.
“The event was graced by active participation from distinguished faculty members, including Dr. Vandana Khajuria, Dr. Parshotom Singh Manhas, Dr. Pawan Kumar, Dr. Arti Sharma, Dr. Sumiksha Thakur, Prof. Mehnaz Bano, Dr. Arun Sharma, and Prof. Akansha Sharma, contributing to its success,” the statement said.
The programme was organized under the guidance of Dr. Devendra Kumar Sharma (ANO NCC), Dr. Rahul Kait and Dr. Neha Sharma (NSS Programme Officers), and Prof. Yasmeen Mughal (Convenor, Women Development Cell).
“Efficiently anchored by Mr. Ayoub Jan and Mr. Sayed Ali Hassan, the event highlighted the college’s commitment to holistic education, integrating practical skills with societal well-being. This initiative underscores GGM Science College’s dedication to creating safety-conscious and community-oriented individual,” the statement said.
