Srinagar, Aug 02: Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP) General Secretary for Kashmir and in-charge of the Charar-i-Sharief constituency, Er Nazir Yatoo on Friday urged the government to construct a ring road connecting the popular tourist destinations of Yousmarg and Gulmarg. He said this project would not only bolster the local economy but also create employment opportunities for thousands of families.
In a statement issued here, Yatoo said the proposed road has transformative potential. “This route will be iconic, linking key areas such as Villnag, Hajan, Dodhpatri, Tosamaidan and Gulmarg,” he said. “I urge the administration under LG Manoj Sinha to initiate the demarcation of this road. It will be a game-changer for the local population and significantly enhance the tourism sector in the region.”
Er Yatoo underscored the strategic importance of improving infrastructure to support tourism, which is a vital industry in Kashmir. “The construction of this ring road would facilitate better connectivity between major tourist spots, making travel easier and more accessible for visitors. This, in turn, is expected to stimulate economic growth by attracting more tourists, increasing spending in local businesses, and providing new avenues for local entrepreneurs,” he said.
The senior DPAP leader said the development of this road network could lead to a surge in ancillary services, such as hotels, restaurants, and transport, thereby creating numerous jobs and supporting the livelihoods of many families in the region. “The economic ripple effect could extend beyond tourism, fostering broader regional development and improving the quality of life for residents,” he added.
Er Yatoo said the project from Yousmarg to Gulmarg represents a significant opportunity for the Kashmir region. By facilitating better access to scenic locations and boosting the tourism industry, the project promises to bring substantial economic and social benefits, he said.
The DPAP leader urged authorities to start the demarcation and construction process, saying this initiative will transform the region’s economic landscape and improve the livelihoods of its people.
