Srinagar, July 19: Sharad Pawar, Chief of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP-SCP), has strongly denounced the recent spate of terror attacks in Jammu and Kashmir, decrying the significant loss of life and ongoing threats faced by the region.
In a statement issued here, Pawar expressed deep concern over the failure of the Jammu and Kashmir administration to prevent these attacks and ensure the safety of its citizens.
“The recent terror attacks in Jammu and Kashmir highlight the persistent menace of terrorism, causing immense suffering to the people of the region,” Pawar stated, stressing the urgent need for a robust response from authorities to combat this threat effectively.
The NCP-SCP chief criticised the current administrative setup in Jammu and Kashmir, saying, “The inability of the administration to prevent these attacks and ensure the security of citizens is deeply troubling. It is evident that the current governance framework is inadequate to address the complex challenges facing the region.”
Advocating for immediate action, Pawar called for the restoration of an elected government in Jammu and Kashmir. “The people of Jammu and Kashmir deserve superior governance, where their voices are heard and their rights protected,” he asserted, underscoring the necessity of an accountable government to address security, developmental, and governance issues effectively.
Expressing solidarity with the people of Jammu and Kashmir, Pawar urged the Central government to swiftly restore peace and stability in the region. “We urge the central government to ensure that those responsible for these heinous acts are swiftly brought to justice,” Pawar concluded.
In tandem with Pawar’s remarks, Rakesh Sapru, NCP leader from Kashmir, echoed concerns about the security situation. “The prevailing lawlessness in Jammu and Kashmir is alarming. These terror incidents underscore the constant threat to life faced by Kashmir’s residents,” Sapru remarked, criticizing the administration’s failure to establish a secure environment.
Sapru said there is an urgent need for an elected government that is responsive to the people’s aspirations. “It is crucial that the people of Jammu and Kashmir have a representative government that addresses their concerns, particularly amid rising unemployment among the youth,” he added.
