Kulgam, Jul 13: The Motor Vehicles Department (MVD) in Kulgam on Saturday carried out an enforcement drive during which 11 driving licenses (DLs) were seized and a fine amounting to Rs 80,000 through e-Challan to traffic violators was realised.
Abrar Ahmad Kripik, Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO) in Kulgam, said the drive was conducted in various areas of the district to crack down on traffic violators.
He said the enforcement squad checked 85 vehicles, with a specific focus on seat belts, headgear, speed limiting devices (SLD), and overloading. “During the operation, 11 driving licenses were seized, and 11 suspension notices were issued on the spot,” he said, adding that the expected fine (e-Challan) amount is estimated to be Rs 80,000,” he said.
The ARTO urged the drivers to adhere to traffic rules and ensure compliance with the laws to avoid fines and other consequences resulting from traffic violations. “The enforcement drive took place in KB Pora, DH Pora, Manzgam, and Pombay in Kulgam, and similar drives will continue in other parts of the district,” he said.
