Srinagar, May 07: Peer Bilal, President for Central Kashmir of the Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP), has called upon the public to remain vigilant against political parties that have exploited them for their own vested interests over the past seven decades.
During a door-to-door campaign for DPAP Srinagar candidate Aamir Ahmad Bhat, in the Hazratbal constituency on Tuesday, Peer Bilal cautioned the people against the “manipulative tactics” of traditional political parties. “These parties have consistently traded the aspirations of the people to satisfy their thirst for power,” he said.
“PDP and NC abandoned their ‘self-rule’ and ‘autonomy’ agenda upon assuming power to appease their bosses at the Centre,” Bilal observed.
“Since 1947, these parties have never been sincere in addressing the aspirations of the people and have always engaged in politics of deceit and exploitation,” he said, adding traditional regional political parties are unnerved by the massive popularity of DPAP among the masses.
Aamir Bhat also addressed the gathering and sought the massive mandate of the people. He reiterated his party’s commitment to fight for the restoration of all constitutional guarantees, especially the restoration of statehood to Jammu and Kashmir, and protection of the people’s rights to land and government jobs. Our party is committed to prioritising development and peace,” he said.
