Jammu, Mar 21: In a relentless effort to combat drug trafficking and convey a stern message to offenders, the Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP) have undertaken a significant operation resulting in the destruction of narcotics valued at millions of rupees.
The operation, spanning four days, culminated in the disposal of seized drugs at MS Anmol Health Care, Vijaypur, located in Samba district of the Jammu region.
According to sources, a variety of seized drugs, worth millions, were destroyed during the extensive exercise. SSP Samba, Vinay Sharma, informed Rising Kashmir, stating that legal proceedings have been initiated against several drug peddlers in conjunction with the destruction of the seized substances.
The legal actions taken against these individuals include the imposition of Public Safety Acts (PSAs) and detentions under the Prevention of Illicit Trafficking in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (PIT-NDPS) Act. Additionally, the JKP has commenced the process of attaching and demolishing properties—immovable assets—acquired through illicit drug trafficking activities.
The assortment of drugs destroyed by the JKP includes heroin, a staggering quantity of 42.82 quintals of Poppy Straw, 25.800 kgs of cannabis (marijuana), over 5,000 bottles of codeine phosphate, 21352 prohibited capsules, and other illicit substances.
