Srinagar, Dec 13: Ladakh Taekwondo Association concluded the self-defence training camp at Government High School Tambis and observed a two-minute silence to condole the demise of Taekwondo coach Gurinder Rakwal from Jammu.
Chief Technical Officer LTA and Headmaster GHS Budgam Nissar Hussain Balkhani was the chief guest and Anayat Ali Shotopa, General Secretary LTA, was the guest of honour.
Zaheer Abass Khan, NIS Coach of Ladakh Taekwondo Association, conducted the camp for seven days in which all girl students of the school participated and benefited. The students displayed self-defence, kicking and punching techniques which they learned during the camp.
NH Balkhani while remembering the contribution of Gurinder Rakwal, his first coach, said, “It was because of Gurinder Sir that I was able to start Taekwondo classes in Kargil and which led to the birth of some of the best sportspersons of Ladakh.”
Balkhani, on behalf of the Ladakh Taekwondo Association, paid condolences to the bereaved family and all the Taekwondo lovers of J&K and Ladakh.
He expressed condolence with Master Atul Pangotra and J&K Taekwondo Association for losing one of the supporters and best Taekwondo promoters of the Union Territory.
While appreciating the efforts of Chief Education Officer Kargil for imparting self-defence training to girl students and making them capable enough to defend themselves from any kind of situation, NH Balkahni said such events inculcate good behaviour and morale among the students.
General Secretary Ladakh Taekwondo Association Anayat Ali Shotopa appreciated the efforts of the CEO Kargil and assured him of any kind of technical help for continuing such training in the future. “The association has more achievements and we assure a better future and overall development of the players through imparting quality training,” he said.
In the end, the chief guest presented mementos to the school and the best students during the camp as a token of appreciation from the Ladakh Taekwondo Association.
