Jammu, Oct 22: All units and establishmentin Jammu region paid tributes to CRPF warriors who laid down their lives in retaliating Chinese onslaught at “HOT SPRING” on 21 October 1959.
At 90 Bn, CRPF, Anantnag, Jammu & Kashmir “Police Commemoration Day” was celebrated with dignity. On this occasion, on 21 October 2022 Dinesh Pratap Upadhyay, DIG, Range Anantnag, and Satya Narayan Meena, 2-I/C, 90 Bn and all Gazetted officers, subordinate officers and jawans of the 90 Bn and Range Anantnag premises paid homage to the martyrs at the Martyrs Memorial and paid homage to their martyrdom. After this the Chief Guest was presented with Guard of Honour by the Ceremonial Guard at the Quarter-Guard. In his address the Chief Guest mentioned the important of “Police Commemoration Day”. He said that on October 21, 1959 a place named ‘Hot Spring’ in Ladakh region a sudden attack by Chinese Army was countered by a patrolling squad of the CRPF and they also thwarted their evil intention. In this encounter 10 CRPF jawans made their supreme sacrifice and to remember them every year 21 October is celebrated as “Police Commemoration Day”.
At that time, while embellishing this sacrifice by the Home Minister of India, Gulzari Lal Nanda, the Central Police as well as the State Police Forces ensured that this day be celebrated as “Police Commemoration Day”.
During the event the Chief Guest read out the names of 264 Brave soldiers of the Police Force of all the States and the Central Police Forces who were matryed and saluted their valor and martyrdom. Programme was organized under the able leadership of Satya Narayan Meena, 2-I/C, 90 Bn in which Rakesh Kumar, Dy. Comdt, other Gazetted Officers, Subordinate Officers and Jawans participated and the program was successfully completed.
