Jammu, Feb 18: During this month’s Awaam ki Awaaz programme, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha emphasised efforts to foster social justice for the development of an Atmanirbhar Jammu Kashmir. He shared stories of beneficiaries and unsung heroes, symbolising transformation in Naya Jammu Kashmir.
Highlighting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s initiative to establish social justice in J&K, the Lt Governor stressed on equal opportunities and resources for the well-being and prosperity of marginalised sections.
The vision of Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas Sabka Vishwas and Sabka Prayas has rectified developmental imbalances, propelling J&K towards accelerated and inclusive development.
The historic decision to include Paharis, Padari Tribes, Koli, and Gadda Brahmin in the Scheduled Tribes list while safeguarding the interests of Gujjar, Bakarwals, and other tribes exhibits commitment towards empowerment.
Dedicating the 35th edition of Awaam ki Awaaz to Unsung Heroes and Nari Shakti, the Lt Governor applauded individuals like Ms. Shabnam Bashir for their significant contributions and revival of tribal culture.
Special mentions were made for inspiring figures like Ms. Waheeda Akhtar and Ms. Reva Raina, whose efforts in women’s empowerment and values-based education through sports are commendable.
Recognition was also extended to individuals like Anita Sharma, Shahnaz Bano, Sunita Devi, Medhavi Sharma, Saras Bharti, Nazish Rashid, Mehbooba Akhtar, and Lakshmi for their outstanding contributions in various fields.
Valuable suggestions received on women’s health, well-being, financial literacy, entrepreneurship, and leadership roles were acknowledged, with necessary directions issued for appropriate action.
The programme paid homage to nationalist thinker-writer Thakur Raghunath Singh for his promotion of Dogri language and culture. Additionally, Padma Shri recipients Dogri folk singer Romalo Ram and master craftsman Ghulam Nabi Dar were commended for preserving and promoting Jammu Kashmir’s rich art and heritage.
