Leh, June 28: Rigzin Lachic, the founder of Dolkhar, a luxurious modern resort in Ladakh, has been honored with the prestigious ‘Forward Thinker in Travel’ title at the Inspiring Women in Travel – Asia (IWTA) 2023 Awards. The event, presented by Travel Daily Media in Bangkok, Thailand, celebrated women who have made significant contributions to the travel industry.
Lachic, who had been nominated in four esteemed categories at the IWTA Awards, emerged as the recipient of the ‘Forward Thinker in Travel’ title within the ‘Women of the Future’ category. Rigzin Lachic, a young entrepreneur hailing from the village of Tukcha in Ladakh, transformed her grandmother’s ancestral building, which boasts a history of 150 years, into the exquisite and modern Resort named “Dolkhar.” After completing her studies outside the Union Territory, Lachic returned to Ladakh in 2017, leaving her job to embark on her entrepreneurial journey.
Recognizing the immense potential of Ladakh’s natural resources, Lachic sourced materials from various regions within Ladakh to incorporate into her resort. Her efforts not only provide economic support to different regions, particularly empowering women, but also offer visitors a unique and authentic experience that captures the essence of Ladakh.
