Jammu, Mar 23: Member Administration JKCA, Brig Anil Gupta in a statement issued on Thursday informed that BCCI for the first time will be creating a Fan Park in Jammu on May 27 and 28, 2023 wherein the semifinal and final matches will be telecast live on big screens alongwith other fun and frolics.
“The Jammu fans will excitedly await for Fan Park. The whole nation will be engulfed with the IPL 2023 fever. The league has become the most popular league and has large viewership across the globe,” maintained Brig Gupta.
“It’s not only the most-watched cricket tournament across the world that is entering the 16th year but also is the tournament that has revolutionised cricket and made it popular with the largest fan following”, said Mithun Manhas, Member Cricket Operations and Development, JKCA.
“The excitement will be palpable not only in the stadiums but all over, as the IPL matches for the first time will have two broadcasters. The Star network will telecast the matches on TV, and Viacom18 will stream the matches on digital devices”, informed Sunil Sethi, Member Legal Affairs JKCA.
Brig Gupta also informed that this year a big number of JKCA players will figure in the 16th edition of the IPL.
Apart from the five players namely Umran Malik, Abdul Samad, Vivrant Sharma, Yudhvir Singh and Avinash Singh already selected to play for the different franchisees, six JKCA players will be playing as net bowlers and injury substitutes.
These players include Basit Bashir (MI), Waseem Bashir(LSG), Abid Mushtaq and Mujtaba Yousuf (CSK), Umar Nazir (PBSK). In addition, Samiullah Dar, who has yet to play for JKCA but is a find of Talent Hunt 2022 has also joined KKR as a net bowler.
“It only proves that JK has no dearth of talent, what our players missed were the opportunities. The talent of JKCA players is being recognised now. The IPL exposure will enable these players to further hone their cricketing skills and add quality to our teams,” asserted Brig Gupta.
The opening ceremony of the IPL 2023 is planned as a grand event to be held at Ahmedabad on March 31,2023. The opening match will be played between Gujarat Titans and Chennai Super Kings.
