Anantnag, Aug 14: Congress on Monday discussed the upcoming ULB and Panchayat elections while expressing confidence that the party will emerge stronger given its “pro-people” policies and the equal services rendered to every section of the people living in the country.
As per a statement issued here, District Congress Committee (DCC) Anantnag in a meeting held at Veerinag area of south Kashmir reviewed the preparations for the upcoming ULB and Panchayat elections urging the party cadres to reach out to people and seek their support to defeat the “fake narrative” of the BJP.
Anantnag District Congress President Ali Mohd Mantoo presided over the meeting while former J&K Congress President Ghulam Ahmad Mir attended the meeting as the chief guest.
Addressing the meeting Mantoo told the party workers that there is a need to work harder, connect with people at the grassroots and seek their full support during the upcoming ULB and Panchayat elections. He expressed confidence that the Congress Party will emerge stronger given its “pro-people” policies and the services rendered to every section of the people equally.
Speaking on the occasion, Ghulam Ahmad Mir said it has always been Congress Party’s endeavour to ensure equitable development and justice to the people, besides safeguarding their rights. “Congress Party believes in serving and strengthening people, it will continue to fight against the divisive and deceitful policies of the BJP which is unambiguously responsible for pushing people of Jammu and Kashmir towards crisis and backwardness,” he said.
Mir made a fervent appeal to the people of J&K to ensure the victory of the Congress Party in the upcoming polls, be it the ULB, Panchayat, assembly or parliamentary elections. “Congress Party fully represents and respects the urges and aspirations of the people. The party is fully capable of breaking the fake narrative of BJP,” he added.
