Ganderbal, Oct 23: The body of the missing person, Muhammad Ashraf Kasana, son of Abdul Rahim Kasana, a resident of Hariganiwan Kangan, Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district, was recovered from the Power Canal near Kaw Cherwan Satruna area on Monday.
According to an official, Kasana had left his home three days ago and did not return. Despite significant efforts by his family, they reported him missing at the Gund police station.
Upon receiving information on Monday, teams from the Gund and Kangan police stations, along with SDRF personnel from Gund Component, arrived at Kaw Cherwan Satruna Kangan. With the assistance of local residents, they successfully recovered the missing person’s body from the power canal.
The Station House Officer (SHO) of the Gund Police Station mentioned that the family had reported the disappearance at Police Station Gund. He said as per the reports the said person was suffering from mental stress.
Subsequently, after completing the necessary medico-legal formalities, the body was handed over to the legal heirs for the last rites.
The police have initiated an investigation into the matter.
