Jammu, Mar 25: A haven for adventure enthusiasts from across the globe, Gulmarg boasts world captivating landscapes and world class ski experience with a huge potential to attract tourists from across the world .
This was stated by the J&K government on Tuesday in the Legislative Assembly.
Reaffirming its commitment to develop Gulmarg as the globally recognized and renowned skiing destination, the Jammu and Kashmir government stated that it had taken several initiatives to establish world class infrastructure and facilities at Gulmarg attracting more and more adventure and nature enthusiasts worldwide.
The government stated that boasting an exceptional skiing landscape, Gulmarg has gained recognition as an affordable skiing destination as it offers high quality powder snow, breathtaking landscapes, and relatively lower cost for accommodation.
The J&K government was responding to a question raised by MLA Farooq Ahmad Shah in the legislative Assembly regarding whether Gulmarg had emerged as an affordable skiing destination.
In response to the question regarding efforts made towards infrastructural development of Gulmarg, the government highlighted a series of initiatives undertaken to develop Gulmarg as a world class tourist destination.
In response of the query regarding steps taken to steps being taken to make Gulmarg as an international Skiing destination, the Jammu and Kashmir government further stated that it recognises Gulmarg’s potential and was committed to improve essential infrastructure such as road connectivity , modernizing ski lifts and enhancing the Gulmarg Gondola to meet international standards making Gulmarg as an an international skiing destination with all adequate and advanced facilities for the visitors.
The government further informed the house that several efforts are being made to attract private investors for development of high quality accommodation, ski resorts and recreational facilities. The government stated that all necessary initiatives were undertaken to ensure that the visitors from the country and across the world have an enriching and comfortable stay in Gulmarg.
Moreover, speaking on the promotion of Gulmarg as a haven for winter games and sports lovers, the government stated that hosting the Khelo India winter games promotes winter sports and reinforces Gulmarg’s reputation as a premier global skiing destination.
Furthermore, highlighting the arrangements put in place by the administration for a hassle- free experience of the visitors, the house was informed that the ski passes are issued to skiers through a smooth process while all the equipment is available for visitors on rent at reasonable rates.
“Besides the Gulmarg Gondola, one of the highest cable cars in the world, makes it attractive for skiers and snowboarders from around the globe,” Govt further stated.
