Srinagar, Mar 21: National Conference President Dr Farooq Abdullah Friday expressed deep sorrow over the devastating fire that broke out in the Kadipora area in Anantnag, destroying over a dozen houses.
In a statement issued here, Dr Farooq urged the Anantnag district administration to promptly assist the affected households with necessary relief and compensation. He commended the efforts of the F&ES, Anantnag Police, CRPF, Army, and local residents for their swift action in containing the fire.
The NC Chief emphasised the importance of providing temporary housing and food to the affected families, as well as conducting a prompt assessment to determine appropriate compensation distribution.
Meanwhile, on the instructions of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, Health Minister Sakina Itoo visited the fire affected in Anantnag and assured the victims that the J&K government will ensure that all their needs will be taken care of. Accompanied by MLAs Altaf Ahmad Wani and Ab Majeed Larmi, the minister assured them that the government was with them in this hour of need.
Furthermore, Member Parliament (MP) Mian Altaf Ahmad echoed Dr Farooq Abdullah’s call for the distribution of compensation to affected households through various central and UT schemes.
Meanwhile, Dr Abdullah expressed deep sorrow over the demise of BJP leader and former independent MLA Gurez, Faqir Mohammad Khan. He offered prayers for peace to the departed soul and strength to the grieving family during this challenging time.
The party’s General Secretary Ali Muhammad Sagar, Additional General Secretary Dr Sheikh Mustafa Kamal, Provincial President Kashmir Adv Showkat Ahmad Mir, and MLA Gurez Nazir Ahmad Khan Gurezi have also conveyed their heartfelt sympathies and condolences to the bereaved household.
