Srinagar, Dec 07: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national general secretary Tarun Chugh on Saturday welcomed the decisions of the Central Cabinet led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to open a big cluster of Kendriya Vidyalaya and Navodaya Vidyalaya in different parts of the country as an “epoch-making decision” to strengthen the education system at the grassroots level.
“The landmark cabinet decisions reflected the government’s unwavering commitment to the welfare of the nation,” he said.
Chugh said the decision to open 85 new Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs) and expand the existing KV in Shivamogga, Karnataka, would go a long way in improving the access to quality education for the children of Central Government and Defence personnel.
“This step will not only benefit approximately 82,560 students but also create 5,388 direct permanent employment opportunities, with many more generated through construction and allied activities,” he said. “The Kendriya Vidyalayas have consistently set new benchmarks in quality education and are now pivotal in implementing the National Education Policy envisioned by the Prime Minister.”
Appreciating the government’s focus on inclusive education, the BJP leader welcomed the Cabinet’s approval to establish 28 new Navodaya Vidyalayas (NVs) in uncovered districts as a milestone towards bridging educational gaps in rural areas. These fully residential schools, he said, will provide top-tier education to 15,680 rural students, ensuring opportunities for talented children irrespective of their socio-economic backgrounds. “This initiative will create 1,316 direct permanent jobs and drive local economic activities,” he said.
Chugh said that Navodaya Vidyalayas, known for their excellence in academics and holistic development, will continue to empower students from marginalized communities, including SC, ST, and OBC categories. He hailed the approval of the Rithala-Kundli corridor of Delhi Metro Phase-IV as a transformative move towards enhancing urban mobility and connectivity across Delhi, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh. Spanning 26.46 km with 21 elevated stations, this corridor will ease traffic congestion, reduce pollution, and boost the regional economy.
With an investment of Rs 6,230 crore, the project underscores the government’s focus on modernizing infrastructure. Tarun Chugh said that Delhi Metro, a global benchmark in reliability and safety, remains the lifeline of the National Capital Region, catering to millions of commuters daily.

Tarun Chugh hosts memorial for Dr B R Ambedkar

New Delhi, Dec 07: A tribute programme was held at the residence of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national general secretary Tarun Chugh here to mark the Mahaparinirvan Diwas of Bharat Ratna Dr B R Ambedkar, a day commemorating his monumental contributions to India’s social transformation.
Organised by the Dr Syama Prasad Mookerjee Research Foundation (SPMRF), the event paid homage to Babasaheb Ambedkar, highlighting his tireless fight for social justice and his pivotal role in drafting India’s Constitution. The programme also celebrated Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s historic recognition of Pali as a Classical Language, a decision hailed for preserving the rich cultural and spiritual heritage of Lord Buddha and Buddhism.
BJP national general secretary (Organisation) B.L. Santhosh addressed the gathering, lauding PM Modi for his role in elevating the status of Pali. “Thanks to PM Modi, the Laughing Buddha is smiling again. The recognition of Pali has brought happiness to people worldwide, especially Buddhists,” Santhosh said. Highlighting Dr Ambedkar’s enduring legacy, he said, “Dr Ambedkar is the central figure of 20th-century India who championed social justice for Indian society. His monumental contribution, the Constitution of India, will always be remembered.”
Tarun Chugh, who hosted the event, expressed the nation’s eternal gratitude to Dr Ambedkar, and highlighted his pivotal role in laying the foundation for equality and social justice in India. “Dr Ambedkar’s vision of social transformation continues to guide the nation. His contributions to empowering marginalised communities remain unmatched,” he said. Chugh also praised Prime Minister Modi’s leadership for safeguarding Buddhism’s cultural and spiritual heritage, particularly through the recognition of Pali.
The event was attended by eminent monks, scholars, and dignitaries, including Ven. Sanghasena Bhikkhu, Ven. Lama Chosphel Zotpa, Acharya Yeshi Phuntsok, and Ven. Dipankara Sumedho Bhante. They all hailed PM Modi for his unwavering commitment to preserving Buddhist teachings and promoting global peace. The recognition of Pali was described as a landmark step in strengthening India’s position as a global hub for Buddhism. The dignitaries also praised the Modi government for its ongoing efforts to uplift socio-economically disadvantaged communities, ensuring inclusivity and progress for all.
Chugh said that under PM Modi’s leadership, India is promoting Lord Buddha’s message of peace, which serves as a guiding principle for both domestic and global policies.
