Srinagar, Dec 05: The Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) Srinagar Bench has stayed the relieving order of a teacher from Bandipora after he claimed the transfer was influenced by political pressure and issued without following proper procedures.
Mir Irfan Maqbool, a teacher from Bandipora, filed a petition challenging his transfer order dated November 22, 2024.
He alleged that the transfer was influenced by political pressure from the local MLA, disrupting his professional and personal life. His counsel argued that the transfer was not issued in accordance with established procedures.
The tribunal, led by Member (Judicial) D.S. Mahra directed the respondents, including the School Education Department and other local authorities, to treat Maqbool’s application as a formal representation. It instructed them to address his grievance according to the law and pass a detailed and reasoned order within two weeks of receiving the certified copy of the tribunal’s directive.
The tribunal also instructed that Maqbool should not be relieved from his current position until the matter is resolved.
