Srinagar, Dec 03: Janata Dal-United (JDU) Jammu and Kashmir president, GM Shaheen led a party delegation to meet Lieutenant Governor (LG) Manoj Sinha at the Raj Bhavan, Jammu on Tuesday to discuss “pressing public concerns”.
During the meeting, Shaheen, according to a party statement issued here, highlighted several critical issues, including the acute shortage of power supply during the harsh winter months, particularly in rural and remote areas. He urged the LG to closely monitor the situation and ensure adequate measures are implemented to mitigate the hardships faced by residents.
The JD-U leader also voiced concerns about the lack of tangible development work at the ground level, criticising what he described as a focus on superficial activities rather than addressing core public grievances, the statement said, adding, “He raised the issue of spurious pesticides being sold in the market, calling for strict action against those involved in such practices that harm farmers.”
In response, LG Sinha assured Shaheen that all necessary arrangements would be made to ensure an uninterrupted power supply during winter, the statement said. “He (LG) also pledged to prioritise rural development projects and expedite their completion.”
Addressing the issue of fake pesticides, the LG announced the formation of a special team to tackle the problem and promised strict legal action against the culprits, the statement said, adding that the meeting underscored the administration’s commitment to addressing public grievances and enhancing governance at the grassroots level.
