Ganderbal, Nov 19: Principal Magistrate of the Juvenile Justice Board (JJB) Ganderbal, Ms. Farah Bashir (JMIC), along with Legal-cum-Probationary Officer Ms. Sameena Anjum, conducted a surprise visit to Police Station Ganderbal.
The visit aimed to ensure that no minors were being held in lock-up, aligning with efforts to uphold and promote child rights.
During the visit, the team interacted with the Station House Officer (SHO) and other senior officers. They discussed various issues related to minors and collected data on the overall number of challans and FIRs. The discussions also focused on alleged children in conflict with the law and child victims of cases under the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015.
The team further inspected the Palash (Boys’ Home) and Pareesha (Girls’ Home) to assess the structural infrastructure and facilities available. They interacted warmly with the children, expressing deep love and affection, and ensured their well-being.
This visit reflects the Juvenile Justice Board’s commitment to safeguarding child rights and addressing issues concerning minors within the justice system.
