Srinagar, Nov 03: Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader and AICC General Secretary Ghulam Ahmad Mir on Sunday directed the administration to identify and ensure the timely resolution of public issues and other development needs.
“Development of the people is paramount, so there should be no delay in addressing these on a priority basis. The people in both regions have not witnessed any positive approach towards their well-being and development on the part of the BJP government at the Centre,” he said while addressing a meeting of party delegates at Omoh in the Verinag area of south Kashmir.
Mir urged participants to fortify their efforts to ensure the redressal of public issues and bring the party’s policies and programmes to the grassroots level.
“There have been numerous tall claims regarding employment generation, completion of projects, and development of lanes, drains, and roads, especially during B2Vs and various other developmental initiatives. However, the reality is that both regions of J&K have equally suffered on every count,” the CLP leader said.
Addressing the delegates, the Congress leader said, “J&K has been witnessing a difficult situation in the absence of a popular government. Besides, people have had to face tremendous hardships on every count. Now that the elected government is in place, there are high expectations among the public that they will receive justice without any delay. For that matter, the administration needs to act swiftly and reach out to the public to ensure them relief and respite.”
He said the development of common people is paramount and there should be no compromise on that. “The Congress Party is committed to fighting for the well-being of the public and the protection of their rights, which have been assaulted from time to time by the BJP government at the Centre,” he said.
Mir said the central government should extend every cooperation to the J&K government and facilitate it on every count so that the process of development in J&K is “back on track”. He laid stress on taking immediate and urgent measures to restore statehood to J&K, as promised on the floor of Parliament by the Prime Minister and Home Minister repeatedly.
