Jammu, Oct 28: Apni Party’s Trade Union President, Ajaz Kazmi has demanded regularisation of the daily wagers in Jammu and Kashmir.
“These 61000 daily wagers have been working in different Govt departments for the last 25 years. However, they are yet to be regularized by the Govt,” said Ajaz Kazmi.
He reminded Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary to fulfill the promises made with the daily wagers of Jammu and Kashmir. He said the daily wagers work on very low wages and these wages are often not released regularly.
The Apni Party leader said the concerned departments also engage them overtime in their respective areas without paying them their dues. “It’s high time that an elected government has taken over the governance in Jammu and Kashmir. Therefore, the daily wagers, who have suffered for more than two decades, seek the attention of the popular government towards their burning demand for regularisation, the release of all the pending dues, and the implementation of the minimum wage act in Jammu and Kashmir.
Kazmi said the daily wagers shall be provided pay protection by the authorities because they work with dedication and keep the departments functional even during odd hours.
Meanwhile, he demanded that the vacant posts be filled up by the government. “The regularisation of daily wagers would help the government to streamline their day-to-day working,” he said.
Ajaz asked the government to advertise all the vacant posts to the recruitment agency. He also referred to the anger among the people against the monopoly of the mining mafia in Jammu which has snatched the resources as well as employment from the local youth. Kazmi demanded an end to the grabbing of resources by the mining mafia.
