Budgam, Oct 17: The Budgam Police on Thursday arrested one drug peddler and recovered a contraband substance from his possession, in Bunhar Charawani area of Budgam district.
A police official said that the Police Station Charar-I-Sharief had received information through reliable sources that one person, namely Khurshid Ahmad Ganie, Son of Abdullah Ganie, Resident of Bunhar Charawani, has illegally dumped poppy straw dried and crushed canabbis in his residential house.
“Accordingly, a police party conducted a raid and during the search, six kgs of poppy straw, five kgs of dried cannabis-like substance and one Kg of semi-dried cannabis leaves were recovered from the house of the accused person in the presence of Executive Magistrate Naib Tehsildar Charar-i-sharief. The contraband substance was seized, and the accused was arrested on spot, “the official said.
He said that a case FIR No. 100/2024 U/S 8/15, 20 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Charar-I-Sharief and the investigation have set into motion.
