Srinagar, Sep 10: In a determined effort to thwart any terrorist attempts along the borders, security forces have intensified counter-infiltration operations in Jammu and Kashmir as the region prepares for its upcoming Assembly elections, officials reported on Tuesday.
Speaking to reporters in Bhaderwah, Doda, Inspector General of the Border Security Force (BSF) for Jammu Frontier assured that the borders are fully secured. He emphasized that the BSF, working in close coordination with other security agencies, including the police, has implemented robust counter-infiltration measures to ensure that the election process proceeds without disruption.
“I want to assure everyone that no infiltration attempts by terrorists from across the border will be permitted during the election process,” the IG BSF stated, adding that the first phase of the elections is scheduled for September 18. He further emphasized that the BSF is fully prepared to handle any challenges and is committed to ensuring a free and fair election.
“BSF personnel are particularly deployed in difficult terrains due to their ability to handle any situation with courage. The BSF’s presence in the Chenab Valley is aimed at securing the election,” he said.
Addressing recent terror incidents in Doda and Kishtwar, the IG noted that ground commanders are actively monitoring the situation and conducting tactical operations to secure the area, ensuring that the elections proceed without incident.
Earlier, IG BSF reviewed election security with 20 commanding officers overseeing BSF units in the region. During the meeting, he acknowledged the presence of lingering traces of terrorism in the area and urged his troops to remain vigilant to prevent any potential terrorist activities.
On September 7, Director General of the BSF, Daljit Singh Chawdhary, along with senior officials, reviewed the security situation and operational preparedness along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Kashmir frontier.
