Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, police have arrested a drug peddler in Kulgam and recovered huge quantity of contraband substance from his possession.
A police spokesman said that acting on specific information regarding hoarding of contraband substance in Shopping Complex at Nipora. Acting promptly, a special team led by IC PP Mirbazar under the close supervision of SDPO Qazigund was constituted.
” The special team raided the suspected place (Shopping Complex at Nipora) in presence of Executive Magistrate Wanpoh and recovered 30.8Kgs of Poppy Straw like substance. ”
The spokeman said accused identified as Mohd Ashraf Khanday son of Ghulam Ahmad Khanday resident of Nippora was also arrested on the spot. The accused has been shifted to police station where he remains in custody, he said.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 196/2024 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Qazigund and further investigation has been initiated.
People are requested to come forward and inform nearby Police unit or Dial 112 with any information regarding any social activity in their neighbourhood so that timely action against the culprits wil
l be taken.
