JAMMU, July 25: All schools in Army cantonments and installations across the Jammu division, including Army schools and Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs), have been closed following credible inputs about a potential terrorist attack. The movement of Army vehicles has also been restricted as a precautionary measure.
Sources indicate that the decision to close schools and limit vehicle movement was prompted by intelligence suggesting terrorists may target Army vehicles and schools within cantonment areas. This precautionary action follows similar threats received earlier, although schools and vehicle movement had not been restricted at that time.
Early this morning, parents of students attending Army schools and KVs received notifications around 5 am informing them that schools would remain closed and online classes would be conducted as per the school administration’s directive.
The management of Army schools and KVs, overseen by the Army, confirms that the order to close the schools has come from Army authorities, according to a senior officer who requested anonymity.
The closure will remain in effect until further notice. The decision follows a series of recent terror attacks in the Jammu region, including an attack on a yatri bus in Reasi and an ambush on an Army vehicle in Machedi, Kathua, resulting in the deaths of five Army jawans. Concerns have been raised about potential attacks on Army vehicles that transport students to these institutions.
The security measures underscore the ongoing threat in the region and aim to ensure the safety of students and personnel.
