Bandipora, Feb 21: District Development Commissioner Bandipora Dr. Owais Ahmad on Tuesday inaugurated the first-ever full-fledged drug de-addiction centre at Old SDH Bandipora. The centre will be managed by the district administration in collaboration with District Social Welfare Office Bandipora under the Nasha Mukht Bharat campaign.
The inaugural ceremony was attended by Nodal officer Coordination M A Hakak, Joint Director Planning Imtiyaz Ahmed, ASP Aashiq Hussain Tak, DSP headquarter Shafat Mohammad, MS District Hospital Bandipora, and other concerned officials.
Deputy Commissioner Bandipora Dr Owais said the centre will provide awareness, counselling, stabilization, identification, education, prevention, treatment, rehabilitation, whole-person recovery and drug demand reduction.
He also visited different sections of centre including the counselling room, ward rooms, and office and take a view of arrangements for patients and attendants. He discussed the services which will be provided by the centre like extracurricular activities. He directed the staff to start work as soon as possible and make admission open.
The DC Bandipora directed the officials to organize awareness camps to motivate the patients to come forward and work in coordination to eradicate this evil crime from the district.
One of the staffers said they are providing free shelter and female counsellors for female addicts and their aim is to make Bandipora a drug-free district. “We will treat the patient till he realizes that he has now become capable to associate with his family and friends well.”
JDP Imtiyaz Ahmed praised the DC Bandipora and highlighted the major and innovative works under him like festivals and self-employment generation.
