Kupwara, Feb 06: A week long skill development training programme (E-MDP) entitled “Tree architecture for enhanced quality produce under HDP” organised by Division of Horticulture, Faculty of Agriculture (SKUAST-Kashmir), Wadura in collaboration with KVK Kupwara concluded at KVK Kupwara. The training programme was sponsored by Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium enterprises (MSME).
The main objective of the programme was to expose and educate rural youth to the career opportunities in horticulture through canopy management and tree architecture. Dr. Nazir Ahmad Ganai Training Coordinator while speaking on the valedictory function emphasized that the training programme was formulated to cover all the facets of training and pruning of designer plants in high density plantation of fruit trees. He summarised the content and lectures delivered during week long training and explained the importance of each section in brief. Dr. Kaiser Mohiddin Malik Senior Scientist and Head, KVK Kupwara, underscored the need to develop skill in training and pruning to foster innovation and entrepreneurship.
The trainees also interacted and were contented to have participated in tree architecture training besides being satisfied with the programme. Dr. Ghulam Irshad Hassan while speaking on the occasion stressed on role of such programmes in instilling entrepreneurship skills among the rural youth. Gh Irshad Hassan expressed gratitude through vote of thanks and underscored the importance of trainees enthusiastic participation.
