Bandipora, July 18: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo on Saturday assured that the government is working swiftly to address public concerns raised during his visit to Bandipora district, including staff shortages, infrastructure needs, and tourism-related challenges.Speaking to reporters during his tour of the area, the Chief Secretary said that many deputations met him in Bandipora and placed their demands. “Work is already underway on several issues, and wherever there are gaps, we are taking necessary action as quickly as possible.”Acknowledging the lack of staff at the District Hospital Bandipora, Dulloo said that efforts are being made to address the problem. “Yes, the hospital has not been updated yet and there is a shortage of staff, but it is being looked into,” he added.Responding to concerns about tourism development in Gurez, Dulloo said the matter will be resolved soon. “There is no issue in Gurez, it will be done,” he said. The Chief Secretary also confirmed that a tribal festival is being planned in Gurez. He said such events would help promote the picturesque valley and bring attention to the area’s unique cultural heritage. On the issue of poor road connectivity, Dulloo admitted that the Bandipora-Gurez highway needs attention. “There is a major demand for improving the highway. This issue has been taken up multiple times with the Union Government, and we will follow it up again,” he said.He also responded to queries about the long-pending demand for the Gurez tunnel. While not committing to a timeline, Dulloo said that the Government of India has already sanctioned two major tunnels, one at Sadhna Pass and the other at Peer Ki Gali on the Mughal RoadwThese tunnels will ensure year-round connectivity in previously cut-off regions, Dulloo said, adding that Gurez will be taken up gradually too.
