Srinagar, March 12: In a major boost for women’s sports in Kashmir, a 15-member women’s cricket team has embarked on a tour to Maharashtra under the aegis of the Chinar Corps and Aseem Foundation. The initiative aims to enhance their cricketing skills, provide national-level exposure, and promote unity through sports.
The team was flagged off by the General Officer Commanding (GoC) of Chinar Corps at Badami Bagh, Srinagar. The players will train and compete with Maharashtra’s top cricket teams, gaining valuable experience and insights from seasoned professionals. National-level cricket facilities in Pune have been reserved for the matches, facilitated by Aseem Foundation.
Beyond the game, the tour will offer the young athletes a chance to explore Mumbai, India’s financial capital, and engage with prominent sports figures. The Indian army remains committed to empowering Kashmiri women, fostering confidence, and broadening their horizons through such initiatives. The GoC Chinar Corps congratulated the players on their selection and wished them success in their sporting journey.
