Srinagar, March: Minister for Health and Medical Education, Social Welfare and Education, Sakeena Itoo, on Monday, informed the Assembly that the relocation of the tehsil office from the Sheikh-ul-Aalam (RA) Senior Citizen/Orphan Home in Eidgah Constituency is underway. The matter was raised by former Speaker and MLA Mubarak Gul, who highlighted the inconvenience caused to senior citizens due to the office’s presence in the same building.
In her response, Minister Itoo explained that while the Day Care cum Recreational Home for Senior Citizens had been established at the location, the Tehsil Office occupies the first floor of the building, causing difficulties for the elderly residents. “The Deputy Commissioner of Srinagar has been requested to find an alternative location for the office to ensure minimal disruption to the senior citizens,” she said.
The minister also mentioned that a 6-kanal plot in East Zoonimar (survey No. 1266) has been identified by the Revenue Department for the construction of a new office. However, she added, “No funds have been allocated for the project in the current financial year (2024-25),” meaning the completion of the new office building will depend on future budget allocations.
