Jammu, Dec 02: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national general secretary Tarun Chugh, who is also the party’s in-charge for Jammu & Kashmir, on Monday accused People’s Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti of building a fake narrative to create a communal divide.
In a statement issued here, Chugh took strong exception to the statement made by Mufti in which she compared the situation in India with that of Bangladesh. He termed it as a nefarious design to foment communal upsurge.
Chugh said, “While minorities are safe and protected in India, they are being stifled to death in Bangladesh, Pakistan and Afghanistan.”
He said at a time when Mehbooba has decisively lost the mandate of the people in J&K, she is only demonstrating her ideological bankruptcy and trying to poison the atmosphere, he said.
The BJP leader said the Modi government has ushered in a new era of progress and development in J&K where people are talking about tourism and not about terrorism which flourished during the term of her father as a Union Home minister. “The youth in J&K has seen a new sunrise and Pak-sponsored terrorism has taken a back seat,” he said.
“Mufti is making attempts to revive terrorism in J&K to fool the youth of the Union territory,” Chugh said. “She (Mehbooba) is endorsing the resurgence of fundamentalism in Bangladesh and has the same overseas mentors who aim at creating trouble and disturbances.”
