Srinagar, Oct 11: G M Shaheen, President Janata Dal-United in Jammu & Kashmir, on Friday urged Omar Abdullah, the would-be Chief Minister, to prioritise regaining statehood for the Jammu and Kashmir.
“Without statehood, the new government would lack authority and effectiveness,” Shaheen said while addressing a press conference in here.
He expressed concern that Abdullah’s recent statements on Article 370 suggest a potential alliance with the BJP in the near future.
Shaheen also extended gratitude to those who voted for JD-U and acknowledged those who didn’t. “Our party remains committed to addressing the people’s concerns. JD-U’s doors are always open to the public,” he said.
