Srinagar, May 12: The Health Department Kashmir is gearing up to make comprehensive healthcare arrangements at all the venues of the G20 Summit events and adding more facilities to the hospitals.
Spokesperson Directorate of Health Services Kashmir, Dr Mir Mushtaq said the department is fully geared up to provide healthcare facilities to the delegates of G20 Summit.
“Special arrangements have been made at various spots like Srinagar airport, SKICC, enroute to Gulmarg and other places. Special clinics have been established while doctors have been trained in basic life support and drugs have been procured for events,” he said.
He said that all the necessary equipment has been put in place at multiple places wherever there is a requirement of the same to meet any kind of eventuality.
The health department has also constituted a team of doctors that has been tasked to superhead the healthcare arrangements at several spots ahead of the G20 Summit events. The doctors and sub-teams will work 24/7 for smooth healthcare arrangements.
“Essential drugs have been made available at multiple spots and emergency ambulances have been put ready and checked whether these are functioning well or not,” he said.
As part of the G20 Summit, Mushtaq said face-lifting of hospitals on the 47-kilometer Srinagar-Gulmarg highway has been done. The hospitals that have been upgraded include Sub District Hospital Magam, SDG Tangmarg and Primary Health Centre, Gulmarg.
“These hospitals on the highway have been upgraded and beautified. These hospitals have got the latest equipment along with state-of-art sanitation facilities and availability of medicines,” he said.
The spokesperson said that x-rays facilities, ECG have been upgraded in the hospitals while special beds have been also kept available and oxygen facilities are also available.
The department has directed that all the officers and officials to be deputed for G 20 Summit shall be trained in BLS and ALS for which trainings are going at the Regional Institute of Health & Family Welfare (RIFW), Dhobiwan and other hospitals as well.
Officials said the upcoming G20 Summit is certainly helping the health department get a makeover as the administration is making every possible effort before the arrival of dignitaries from participating nations.
Earlier, in March as part of preparations for this year’s G20 Summit events, the Health Department Kashmir conducted a Basic Life Support (BLS) training program at Sheikh ul-Alam International Airport.
Officials said the Administrative Secretary, Health and Medical Education (H&ME) Department, Bhupinder Kumar and Director Health Services Kashmir have been taking regular meetings to discuss the measures being put in place at all the venue sites.
“We want to make sure that we have the best possible healthcare facilities in place for the visiting dignitaries. We are aiming to provide world-class medical care that meets the highest international standards,” officials said.
