Jammu, May 09: Jammu and Kashmir Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary on Friday said that the Pir Panjal region bears the brunt whenever tensions escalate between India and Pakistan. He made these remarks during a visit to GMC Rajouri, where he met civilians injured in recent cross-border incidents.
Speaking to the media after his visit, Choudhary praised the resilience of the region’s residents, stating that the people of Pir Panjal have always stood shoulder to shoulder with the Indian Army, demonstrating unwavering courage in the face of adversity.
“Yesterday, I met people in relief camps who told me that their elders had witnessed such trying times 75 years ago — and now, they are reliving the same trauma. Their only wish is that the future generations are spared such hardships. There’s a strong spirit and passion among the people,” he said, adding, “Even today, the people of the Pir Panjal region stand united with the Indian Army.”
Issuing a stern warning across the border, he declared, “Pakistan will face a strong response.” At the same time, Choudhary appealed to the nation, saying, “Let us stand united and uphold peace and brotherhood in these challenging moments.
The Deputy Chief Minister described the current atmosphere as a “war-like situation,” assuring the public that their concerns will be addressed. “I have taken note of the issues and will personally bring them to the Chief Minister’s attention. Every possible help will be extended to the people of this region,” he said.
He stressed the importance of unity to counter attempts to destabilize Jammu and Kashmir and the rest of India. “Just as in the past, people must continue supporting the Army. Only through unity can we strengthen Jammu and Kashmir,” he emphasized.
