Jammu, March 10: In response to a query raised by Kuldeep Raj Dubey, the government has acknowledged the immense tourism potential of several lesser-known villages in the Reasi district of Jammu Division. The Tourism Department confirmed that the region holds promise for various forms of tourism, including heritage, adventure, pilgrimage, spiritual, and recreational tourism.
As part of its efforts to boost tourism infrastructure, the department has undertaken development works worth Rs. 245.19 lakh under the State Capex Budget. In addition, projects worth Rs. 706.16 lakh have already been completed under the Swadesh Darshan Scheme, aimed at promoting tourism-related facilities across the district.
Among the scenic yet underexploited spots identified are Siyad Baba, Chinkah, Sangar Kotla, and Kashi. The Tourism Department has begun promotional activities to bring these destinations onto the broader tourist map. Notably, Siyad Baba has already witnessed infrastructure development worth Rs. 122.26 lakh under Swadesh Darshan 1.0 during 2020-21.
Chinkah Lake was recently highlighted through a promotional event held on World Environment Day 2024, showcasing the area’s ecological and scenic appeal. Similarly, Kotla, located adjacent to Ransoo – the site of the annual Shivkhori Festival – is gaining traction due to its spiritual and cultural significance. Kashi, close to the adventure hotspot Baradari, is being promoted for its adventure tourism potential.
The department is also preparing dedicated promotional literature, including brochures and pamphlets, to highlight key destinations like Mahadev Temple, Sangar Kotla, and Kashi, aiming to attract both domestic and international tourists.
With these steps, the government is making strides toward unlocking Reasi’s untapped tourism potential and turning these hidden gems into sought-after travel destinations.
