Banihal, Jan 04: National Conference (NC) leader and MLA Banihal Sajjad Shaheed visited the remotest snow-covered village of Mahu to address the pressing issues faced by the residents during the harsh winter months. He interacted with villagers and assessed the challenges they had been facing due to the severe cold and heavy snowfall.
During the visit, the MLA attended a Gram Sabha convened by the Rural Development Department (RDD), which saw enthusiastic participation from local residents and Panchayat members. “The Sabha focused on developmental initiatives and the immediate needs of the community. Villagers expressed their concerns about the lack of road connectivity, disruptions in electricity supply, and the availability of essential commodities. The need for improved healthcare services to deal with winter emergencies was also highlighted,” the MLA said in his statement issued here.
Speaking at the Gram Sabha, Shaheen assured the residents of his strong commitment to their welfare. He directed the concerned officials to expedite the restoration of utility services and repair damaged power infrastructure to restore connectivity and electricity in all the remaining areas of Banihal-Gool constituency at the earliest.
The MLA called for ensuring an uninterrupted supply of ration and fuel to sustain families during the harsh weather. “The hardships faced by the people of Mahu and other snow-bound villages are a priority for our government. We are working tirelessly to resolve these issues and ensure that development reaches even the remotest corners of the constituency,” he said in his address.
The visit also included an on-ground review of various ongoing developmental projects in the region, the statement said. The MLA instructed officials to expedite work on critical projects and called for enhanced coordination between local representatives and the administration to address the unique challenges faced by the area.
