2 woman drug peddlers arrested in B’la

Baramulla, April 05: Two female drug peddlers were arrested by the Jammu and Kashmir Police on Wednesday during a naka checking operation in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
The police recovered 113 grams of a substance resembling Charas, a popular contraband drug. 
A police official while calling the arrests as part of the authorities’ efforts to crack down on drug trafficking in the area said that Baramulla police under the supervision of Shokat Ali-JKPS, SDPO Uri assisted by DySP Probation Kubra Nazir, SHO Police station Boniyar arrested 2 female drug peddlers. 
Police identified the female drug peddlers as Fahmeeda daughter of Mohammad Subhan Ahanger, a resident of Limber and Nazira Begum wife of Shabir Ahmad Raja, a resident of Bimyar. 
Police said that the duo were arrested during a naka checking at Chellan Boniyar while they were coming from Bimyar towards Chellan. 
The police official said that upon seeing the naka party the accused tried to flee from the spot but were apprehended tactfully.
“During their personal search 113 grams of contraband Charas like substance was recovered from them and were taken into custody immediately”, he said.
Police said that Case under NDPS Act registered in Police Station Boniyar and investigations set in motion.
Earlier on March 12, the Baramulla police arrested a notorious female drug peddler, and seized 70 grams of a substance similar to Charas.
A police official said that Naza Begum, wife of Ab Majeed Sofi, was apprehended by police. 
“Naza Begum, who is well-known for selling drugs to local youths, was among those arrested,” the police official said.
