Srinagar, Dec 28: The enchanting Chatlam Wetland Reserve in Pampore recently hosted the J&K Bird Festival, 2023, a collaborative effort by the Jammu and Kashmir tourism department, Sanctuary Nature Foundation, and Wildlife Conservation Fund.
The event, organized for the second consecutive year, witnessed enthusiastic participation from scores of nature enthusiasts, officials, and distinguished guests.
Chief Justice of J&K and Ladakh, Justice N. Kotiswar Singh, along with his spouse Dr Vijay Lakshmi, graced the occasion, joined by eminent dignitaries including M.K Sharma, Principal Secretary to Chief Justice, and Abdul Bari Joint Registrar (Protocols). The event featured a range of activities, including a painting competition that attracted bird lovers and showcased artistic talent.
Representing the Department of Tourism were Dr. Deeba Khalid Peer, Dy. Director (Publicity), and Dr. Mantash Binti Rashid, Dy. Director Tourism.
Students from various schools, colleges, and universities actively participated in live painting competitions, nature walks, and engaging interactions with young ornithologists and bird experts.
Looking ahead, tourism officials revealed plans for more events in the coming days, aimed at welcoming the new year vibrantly. Anticipation is building for a grand welcome to 2024 in Gulmarg, featuring top singers and mesmerizing laser shows, promising a spectacular start to the year.
As the festival concluded, officials expressed optimism about the upcoming events, envisioning a year filled with cultural celebrations and nature-centric activities to captivate residents and visitors alike.
