Fire Service Week: Volleyball, Badminton, Tug of War, Cricket matches held across J&K

Jammu, April 19: The JK Fire and Emergency Services Department is observing Fire Service Week with great enthusiasm from April 14 to April 20 at Range Level at Fire Training Centre Bari Brahmna and Batmaloo headquarters Saturday. A series of competitions and drills were conducted as part of the disciplined skills and teamwork of fire service personnel.

The sports events included Fire Drill, Volleyball, Tug of War, Badminton and Cricket in which around 150 Fire Service personnel participated from various Fire and Emergency Services Commands of Jammu and Kashmir province, who demonstrated their physical fitness, coordination skills and team spirit in a most disciplined way and befitting manner. At Jammu, in Volleyball finals, Fire and Emergency Services Command Ramban emerged victorious and Jammu Command finished as the runners-up. In the Fire Drill competitions, Fire and Emergency Services Jammu Command clinched the first position and Udhampur/Reasi Command and Doda/ Kishtwar Command secured second and third position respectively. In Tug of War, Udhampur, Reasi Command bagged first place. while Rajouri/ Poonch Command finished as the runners-up. In Badminton, the first position was taken by Fire and Emergency Services Command Udhampur, Reasi while as Command Samba, Kathua remained at second spot. In Cricket, FTC Bari Brahmna emerged victorious and Rest of Jammu finished as the runners-up.
The events are being conducted under the patronage of Alok Kumar-(ADGP) Director Fire and Emergency Services J&K and are being supervised by RK Raina, Deputy Director F&ES Command Jammu, while Dr Manju, Medical Officer Medical Unit Gandhinagar, Sarvesh Langer Assistant Director Command Udhampur, Himanshu Gandotra Principal FTC Bari Brahmna and S. Mandeep Singh Foreman Regional Workshop Jammu were the jury members. The mementos and trophies were distributed among the winners by the Chief Guest. The event was conducted by Kanwal Peshin in- charge DFO Trainings and Sunil Dutt.
