Srinagar, May 13: Around twenty thousand new Learners have joined the IGNOU in the Kashmir valley for the January 2024 admission cycle. In continuation with its efforts to provide effective student support services and to introduce the newly enrolled students to the new educational setup of ODL/IGNOU for their smooth academic journey, “IGNOU Regional Centre Srinagar organised induction and orientation programmes in the North and South Kashmir.
A day long programme was organised at Govt Degree College Boys Sopore for the learners of North Kashmir for January 2024 admission cycle. The programme started with the welcome address by Dr. Nusrat Ali Coordinator of IGNOU study centre 1210 at the college. In her welcome address, she welcomed the Chief guest, other dignitaries and students in the induction programme and thanked the Regional Director for choosing the study centre to conduct the programme. The session was followed by a PowerPoint Presentation by ARD Dr Mohammad Abdullah through which he briefed the Learners about the mechanism of teaching learning of IGNOU and the details regarding academic activities, submission of assignments, examination, practicals, etc.
In his presidential address, Dr. Shahnawaz Ahmad Dar, Regional Director IGNOU Regional Centre Srinagar deliberated upon the importance of organizing the event. He welcomed all the newly enrolled students to IGNOU and informed them to remain connected with the RC Srinagar through the website and its official social media sites. He addressed the importance of timely information to students in distance learning and the need to complete all the academic components of the programmes offered by IGNOU as per the schedule framed by IGNOU. The presidential address was followed by a detailed question answer session.
The session was followed by an orientation programme of the Academic Counsellors and Part Time Staff of study centres of IGNOU of Sopore, Handwara and Pattan and Baramulla.
The Regional Director emphasised on the role of the Academic Counsellors and Part Time Staff of the IGNOU Study Centres in the delivery of effective student support services. He emphasised on them to be honest in their duties towards the students and stressed on providing timely information to the newly enrolled learners. During the interaction with them, he addressed the various queries of the counsellors and promised them that they will receive all possible support from the Regional Centre regarding their all genuine demands and to forward their feedback to IGNOU New Delhi regarding some of their genuine concerns. The session ended with the vote of thanks by Dr. Abdullah.
In another similar such programme, a day long induction programme was organised by the IGNOU Regional Centre Srinagar for the newly enrolled Learners of January 2024 admission cycle under the IGNOU study centres of South Kashmir, LSC 30004, 1248, 30007, & 30027, at Government Degree College Shopian and an orientation programme for the Academic Counsellors and Part Time Staff of these IGNOU study centres of South Kashmir. Similar such programmes are regularly organised by the Regional Centres Srinagar in the online mode both for the Learners and the Academic Counsellors.
